Editing a Concept

Existing Concepts are managed by the Concepts table.

🚧To edit an existing Concept, please follow the steps below:

The Concepts View displays and manages the Concepts table

🚧To navigate to the Concepts View:

  • Go to the Concept Dictionary -> Concepts view via the Navigation Menu

Locate the Concept Record

The Concepts will be displayed and managed by the Concepts table

Search for a desired Concept to edit.

Searching for a Concept

To locate the Concept, search the Concepts table by:

  • 👀Manually searching for the desired Concept

  • 🔍Filtering the Concepts by entering the Concept Name into the Search input.

Open the Edit Concept View

Editing Concepts are managed by the View Concept

  • Click the View button in the Actions Column of the Concepts table


Header Panel

The Header Panel displays basic information about the Concept, manages the status of the Concept, and allows exporting the Concept

✏️Editing the Status of a Concept

The status of the concept can be set by clicking the state button in the concept header.

This action will prohibit use of the concept in user interfaces, while maintaining referential integrity with existing data in the database and allowing data integrations to continue to use the concept.

Flag
Description

Active

The Concept is flagged active to be used in the system

Inactive

The Concept is flagged inactive. This Concept will no longer be used with this status.

Obsolete

The Concept is flagged as retired or no longer exists

Nullify

The Concept is flagged as ignore


Concept Properties Panel

The Concept Properties Panel allows editing the core properties of the concept including the removal of concept set memberships, names, and the mnemonic.

Enable Edit Mode

Edit Mode allows editing the Concept Properties

🚧To enable Edit Mode:

  • Click the Edit button in the panel header

⭐Update the Mnemonic (Optional)

The Mnemonic is a globally unique human readable label for the concept.

This mnemonic is used by programmers and humans to reference the mnemonic using a more friendly name than the UUID

🚧To update the Mnemonic for the Concept:

  • Enter a new Mnemonic into the Mnemonic input

⭐Update the Classification (Optional)

The Classification is used for internal model validation, the classification lets the CDR understand the overall categorization under which the concept falls

🚧To update the Classification for the Concept:

  • Click on the Classification input

  • Select an appropriate Classification

⭐Update Names (Optional)

Names are human readable descriptions of the concept which appear in SanteDB's user interface

🚧To Update a Name for the Concept:

  • Enter the new Name into the Name Value input

  • Select the appropriate language in the Language input

⭐Update Associations (Optional)

Setting Membership of a Concept is handled through the Members of Set input. This input handles groupings of concepts within a concept set

🚧To add the Concept to another Concept Set :

  • Click the Concept Set input

  • Select an appropriate Concept Set

  • Click the Add button


➕Adding More Associations

Adding more associations are handled through the Add button

🚧To add more Concept Set associations:

  • Select another Concept Set

  • Click the Add button


❌Removing an Association

Removing Associations are handled by the Remove button

🚧To remove a Concept Set associations:

  • Click the Remove button

Save The Changes

This step will commit all changes to the Central Server

🚧To save the changes to the Concept Properties:

  • Click the Save button in the Concept Properties panel header


Reference Terms Panel

The Reference Terms Panel displays Reference Terms (i.e. Codes in a Code System) which associates or relate to this Concept.
