CJA10 - Local Users & Security

Role: Clinic Nurse / Nurse-in-Charge

Purpose: Manage staff login accounts on the clinic tablet to ensure users can continue working even when the internet connection is unavailable.

The Local Users function allows clinics to create and manage user accounts that are stored directly on the tablet device. These accounts provide secure access when the network is offline and are essential for business continuity.

Local users differ from central (web) users:

  • Local Users = accounts stored on the tablet; used for offline access.

  • Central Users = accounts managed in the web portal; require internet connectivity.

  1. From the sidebar, select System → Local Users.

  2. Review the list of users registered on this device.

  • Displays all accounts stored on the tablet.

  • Columns: User Name, Last Login, Lockout, Updated By, and Actions.

  • Use Search to find a specific user.

  • Toggle Show Deleted to view removed accounts.

  • Require users to change passwords regularly.

  • Only assign Administrator rights to charge nurses or designated leads.

  • Keep device PIN locked when unattended.

🚫 Key Notes

  • Tablets store accounts locally for offline access.

  • The web portal connects to the central server and manages only Central Users.

  • Password complexity rules apply to all local accounts.

  • Charge nurses should verify and clean up accounts during monthly maintenance.
