The Application Profile is the central tab to edit the most relevant attributes about an Application

Core Application Properties

Core Application Properties are basic attributes about an Application

What are Core Properties?

🗒️Core Properties of an Application are:

  • the Security ID established for the Application

  • the Name of the Application

  • the Created By

    • Who created this Application, and

    • When this Application was created

  • the Updated By

    • Who last updated this Application, and

    • When they last updated this Application

Security Properties

Security Properties are attributes related to Application authentications and secrets

Security Properties

🗒️Security Properties are:

  • The last authentication processed by the Application

  • The number of invalid authentications encountered by the Application

  • The secret used for the Application

🔁Resetting Invalid Authentications

Once an Application has reached the maximum amount of Invalid Authentications, the Application will become locked. After, an Application will need to have its count reset.

🚧To reset Invalid Authentications for an Application, please follow the steps below:

Click on the Reset button in the Invalid Authentications field

Click the Ok button to confirm resetting the invalid authentications counter

Verify that the invalid authentications count has changed


🔁Resetting Application Secret

When an Application's secret has become unwanted or undesired, an Application secret can be reset.

🚧To reset a Application Secret, please follow the steps below:

Click on the Reset button.

Click the Ok button to confirm resetting the Application Secret.

Verify that the new Application Secret is displayed

Extended Properties

Extended properties are the relative information about an Application

What are Extended Properties?

🗒️Extended Properties are:

  • The Software Name of the Application

  • The Vendor who created and maintain the Application

  • The Version of the Application

📝All of the properties listed above can be modified by an administrator.

✏️Editing Extended Properties

Extended properties of an Application can be updated at any moment.

🚧To update the Extended Properties of an Application, please follow the steps below:

Click the Edit button in the Extended Properties panel header

✨(Optional) Enter a new Software Name into the Software Name input.

✨(Optional) Enter a new Vendor into the Vendor input.

✨(Optional) Enter a new Version into the Version input.

Click the Save button in the Extended Properties Panel header

Verify that the updates match the ones displayed in the Extended Properties Panel.

Associated Policies

Associated Policies are the actions that the Application is allowed to perform, or restricted from performing.

Limits to Policies Assigned

❗There can be many policies applied to an Application.

✅You may apply as many policies as the system has policies for

➕Adding a Policy to an Application

If an Application requires a particular Policy to function, a Policy can be added

🚧 To add a new Policy to an Application, please follow the steps below:

Click on the Add select field.

Select a policy.

Selecting and Filtering a Policy

This can be done by clicking on one of the options.

🔍You can search for the policy by typing in the text-field. 🔽This will filter the list of available policies.

Click the Add button.

Verify the policy is now present in the Policies Table

Select the appropriate permission for that policy

Available Permissions

Please select the appropriate permission for the policy based upon the descriptions below:

  • 👍Grant the Application this policy (e.g. The Application is allowed to login as a service)

  • 👎Deny the Application this policy (e.g. The Application is restricted from login as a service)

  • ⬆️Elevate the policy for the Application (e.g. The Application is elevated to login as a service)


✏️Changing Permission of a Policy for an Application

Permissions are a grant on a particular policy

🚧 To change a Permission of an existing Policy assigned to an Application, please follow the steps below:

Locate the Policy in the Policies Table

Searching for a Policy

Searching for a Policy can be done by:

  • 👀manually finding the record, or

  • 🔍using the search field (located in the top right-hand corner of the table)

Click the appropriate permission button for that policy

Permissions for a Policy

🗒️Permissions for a policy can be any one of:

  • 👍Grant the Application this policy (e.g. The Application is allowed to login as a service)

  • 👎Deny the Application this policy (e.g. The Application is restricted from login as a service)

  • ⬆️Elevate the policy for the Application (e.g. The Application is elevated to login as a service)

Verify that the permission changed


❌Removing a Policy from an Application

When a Policy for an Application is no longer desired or needed, a Policy can be removed

🚧 To remove an existing Policy from an Application, please follow the steps below:

Locate the Policy in the Policies Table

Searching for a Policy

Searching for a Policy can be done by:

  • 👀manually finding the record, or

  • 🔍using the search field (located in the top right-hand corner of the table)

Click the Remove button.

Click the Ok button to confirm.

Verify that the Policy is now removed from the Policies Table

🧮Therefore, zero policies should be present after removing the policy
