The Device Profile is the central tab to edit the most relevant attributes about a device

Core Properties

What are Core Properties?

🗒️Core Properties of a Device are:

  • the Security ID established for the Device

  • the Name of the Device

  • the Created By

    • Who created this Device, and

    • When this device was created

  • the Updated By

    • Who last updated this Device, and

    • When they last updated this device

Security Properties

Security Properties are attributes related to Device authentications and secrets

Security Properties

🗒️Security Properties are:

  • The last authentication processed by the Device

  • The number of invalid authentications encountered by the Device

  • The secret used for the Device

🔁Resetting Invalid Authentications

Once a Device has reached the maximum amount of Invalid Authentications, the Device will become locked. After, a device will need to have its count reset.

🚧To reset Invalid Authentications for a Device, please follow the steps below:

Click on the Reset button in the Invalid Authentications field

✏️Editing Device Secret

A Device secret can be established to increase security in authenticating a device

🚧To edit a Device Secret for a Device, please follow the steps below:

Follow the steps in [editing a device](#Editing a Device) and scroll to the Security Properties Panel.

Click on the Edit button.

When a Device's secret has become unwanted or undesired, a device secret can be reset.

Assigned Policies

Assigned Policies are the actions that the Device is allowed to perform, or restricted from performing.

🚧 To add a new Policy to a Device, please follow the steps below:

Follow the steps in [editing a device](#Editing a Device) and scroll to the Assigned Policies Panel.

Click on the Add input. A dropdown should appear.

Select a policy.

This can be done by clicking on one of the options.

🔍You can search for the policy by typing in the text-field. 🔽This will filter the list of available policies.

Verify the policy is now present in the Policies Table

Select the appropriate permission for that policy

Available Permissions

Please select the appropriate permission for the policy based upon the descriptions below:

  • 👍Grant the User this policy (e.g. The User is allowed to change passwords)

  • 👎Deny the User this policy (e.g. The User is restricted from changing passwords)

  • ⬆️Elevate the policy for the User (e.g. The User is elevated to change password)


✏️Changing Permission of a Policy for a Device

Permissions are a grant on a particular policy

🚧 To change a Permission of an existing Policy assigned to a Device, please follow the steps below:

Locate the Policy in the Policies Table

Searching for a Policy

Searching for a Policy can be done by:

  • 👀manually finding the record, or

  • 🔍using the search field (located in the top right-hand corner of the table)

Click the appropriate permission button for that policy

🗒️Permissions for a policy can be any one of:

  • 👍Grant the Device this policy (e.g. The Device is allowed to change passwords)

  • 👎Deny the Device this policy (e.g. The Device is restricted from changing passwords)

❌Removing a Policy from a Device

When a Policy for a Device is no longer desired or needed, a Policy can be removed

🚧 To remove an existing Policy from a Device, please follow the steps below:

Locate the Policy in the Policies Table

Searching for a Policy can be done by:

  • 👀manually finding the record, or

  • 🔍using the search field (located in the top right-hand corner of the table)

Click the Remove button. After a confirmation popup will display.

Click the Ok button to confirm.

Verify that the Policy is now removed from the Policies Table

Extended Properties

Extended properties are the relative information about a device

What are Extended Properties?

🗒️Extended Properties are:

  • The model name of the Device

  • The operating system used by the Device

  • The designated facility for the Device

  • The designated person (i.e. the primary User) for the Device

📝All of the properties listed above can be modified by an administrator.

✏️Editing Extended Properties

Extended properties of a Device can be updated at any moment.

🚧To update the Extended Properties of a Device, please follow the steps below:
