Disabling a Stock Store
Purpose
Disabling a stock store makes it unavailable for stock transactions while keeping all historical records.
This is useful when a fridge, freezer, or cold box is:
Out of service
Under repair
Retired
Disabled stores can be re-enabled later if they return to service.
Steps

Scenario Example
The Mini Cooler cold box is temporarily out of service for maintenance. Staff disable it to prevent stock from being issued. Once repairs are complete, the store is enabled again and returned to active use.
Key Notes
Disabling does not delete the store — all historical stock data remains
Stores must be active to allow counts, transfers, or issuance
Use Disable when equipment is broken, serviced, or retired
Use Enable only when the store is back in service and safe for use
Summary
The Disable/Enable function allows staff to:
Prevent transactions from unsafe or unavailable containers
Retain full stock history for audit and reporting
Restore stores to active use once they are safe again
This ensures both patient safety and stock accountability while managing cold chain equipment.
