Temperature Readings

Purpose

The Temperature Readings function ensures that vaccines and supplies are stored within safe temperature ranges. The system tracks when checks are due, and a red Temp. Due label on the stock card alerts staff that a reading must be recorded.

Regular logging helps:

  • Detect cold chain problems early

  • Trigger alarms for corrective action

  • Maintain compliance with vaccine storage standards

1

Open Stock Management

From the sidebar, expand My Clinic and select Stock Management.

2

Locate the Store

On the Stock Dashboard, find the store (e.g., Test_Freezer). If the store shows Temp. Due, a reading must be recorded.

3

Open Store and Tab

Click View to open the store, then select the Temperature Readings tab.

Steps to Record a Temperature Reading

1

Open Reading Panel

Click Edit on the Temperature Monitoring History panel.

2

Enter Device Status

Set Device Functional Status:

  • Fully Functional / No Alarm

  • Partially Functional

  • Non-Functional

  • No Information

  • Unavailable

3

Enter Temperature Reading

Enter the Device Temperature Reading in °C.

4

Record Alarm/Reason

  • Alarm → check if an alarm is active

  • Reason → select cause if applicable (Power Failure, Mechanical Problem, Thermostat Problem, Broken/Damaged)

5

Confirm Details

  • Timestamp → auto-filled, adjust if logging a past reading

  • Location → facility auto-fills

6

Save

Click Save to record the reading, or Cancel to exit without saving.

Interpretation of Readings

The system automatically classifies readings:

  • Normal (Green) → within safe range (e.g., –20°C for freezer)

  • High (Red) → above safe threshold; corrective action required

  • Low (Red) → below safe threshold; corrective action required

  • ⚠️ Warnings (Yellow) → display corrective action guidance

Scenario Example

Scenario: During the evening check, the Test_Freezer card displays a Temp. Due alert. Staff record a temperature of –15°C.

  • The system classifies the entry as High

  • Device is marked Partially Functional with a logged thermostat problem

  • Corrective action is initiated

After saving, the entry appears in the Temperature Monitoring History:

  • Location

  • Store

  • Date

  • Temperature

  • Status

  • Alarm

  • Issue/Problem

The Temperature Readings function ensures:

  • Vaccine potency is maintained through regular monitoring
